SELANGKAH BIZ, the newly launched mobile application and digital solution by SELANGKAH, is helping small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia move towards a contactless and cashless business environment to ensure safe, secure, and smooth transactions, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.
With SELANGKAH BIZ, any registered businesses in Malaysia can accept cashless payments using their own devices, transforming their phones into payment terminals with just a few taps. The merchants only need to download the application and register to become a SELANGKAH BIZ merchant, which will then provide them access to the Unified Payment Platform to receive cashless payments through multiple e-wallets and manage their daily transactions easily. This will also help the SMEs save cost while providing their customers with greater convenience and value, without the need for device installation and rental.
SELANGKAH Ventures Sdn Bhd (SVSB) chief information officer Dr Helmi Zakariah said, “Our local businesses have much to offer, and it is our aim to help them not only survive, but also thrive in every way that we can. SELANGKAH BIZ is our solution to help SMEs digitalise safely, seamlessly and quickly to advance their businesses, which in return will contribute to the nation’s growth. We saw this urgent need to digitalise and worked hand in hand with technology leader Kiple to help drive this and leveraged their expertise to lay the foundations for the app that will ultimately aid SMEs to transform digitally.”
The payment platform available on the SELANGKAH BIZ app was made possible through a collaboration with Kiple, who designed the end-to-end system for the app. The user-friendly interface makes it possible for the merchant to present their customers with a variety of payment options for their convenience. At the moment, this includes e-wallet and cashless payment options such as Touch n’ Go, Boost, Grab, Razer and kiple’s own e-wallet, kiplePay. Kiple has also made it possible for merchants to monitor their overall sales through transaction records, allowing for easy daily tracking.
KiplePay Chief Executive Officer, Tan Kay Yen said, “As a technology leader that has been in the Malaysian business landscape for over two decades now, we are in a position to empower businesses and make a difference with our solutions. Digitalisation may seem like a challenge for businesses that have yet to experience the benefits of the transformation, so we want to show them that it does not have to be a difficult process if you have the right tools. We intend to make the process as seamless as possible so they can reap the benefits of these digital technologies in their daily lives.”
In February, the national digital economy blueprint, MyDIGITAL was unveiled by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, which outlined the country’s plans to accelerate the adoption of digital solutions amongst all factions of society for greater economic growth. Part of the agenda includes the push for cashless payment platforms, that have increasingly become a preference for consumers and businesses alike.
However, not all businesses are utilising such cashless platforms as they almost always involve investments in terms of terminals and physical hardware, which will incur extra costs to their already tight budgets. In response, SELANGKAH – which started out as the country’s first official contact tracing app has since introduced SELANGKAH BIZ to overcome these challenges faced by SMEs and provide a solution to their payment predicament.
Aside from providing business owners with cashless solutions, SELANGKAH will also soon roll out SELANGKAH WALLET and SELANGKAH PAY within the app to provide its users with a one-stop solution for all their digital needs in the new normal.
SELANGKAH BIZ is now available for free download on the Google Play Store and soon the Apple App Store. SMEs can also find out more and register to become a merchant at biz.selangkah.my or email selangkah@selcare.my.
