The Negeri Sembilan Fencing Association (NSFA) officially announced the return of the Negeri Sembilan Youth Challenge (NSYC) 2024 in Seremban today.
The NSYC will take place from 6 to 8 July 2024 and has come to fruition together with the support of the Malaysian Fencing Federation (MFF), the Negeri Sembilan State Sports Council (MSNNS) and our corporate sponsors.
“We are excited to announce that the second edition of the Negeri Sembilan Youth Challenge (NSYC) will be returning to Seremban Prima Mall in July 2024,” said Tengku Dato’ Mu’adzam Sadruddin bin Tengku Noone Aziz, president of NSFA.
“Following the success of the inaugural NSYC in June last year, when we saw over 260 entries from all over Malaysia, a decision was made to expand the format of the competition in two ways. This year, we have opened the entries to our regional neighbours, and we hope to welcome young fencers from our neighbouring countries to this Youth Challenge. In addition, there will also be a team event, which we hope will allow many of our young fencers to take part in a team event for their first time,” he continued.
“As we will also see, after a long hiatus, the return of fencing to this year’s SUKMA XXI which will be held in Sarawak in August, this tournament will also aid our Negeri Sembilan youngsters to prepare for SUKMA 2024. We thank Seremban Prima Mall, who will be the venue for NSYC again, and hope that this event will generate greater interest in the sport of fencing amongst the youth of Negeri Sembilan,” he concluded.
The Negeri Sembilan Youth Challenge will be held at Seremban Prima Mall, Seremban from 6 to 8 July 2024 and will see competition for medals at the individual Under-10, Under-12, Under-14 and Under-17 levels for both girls and boys, in the three fencing disciplines of Foil, Épée and Sabre. In addition, there will be a team competition at the Under-12 and Under-17 levels for boys and girls in the three disciplines.
