Southern Score Builders Berhad (SSBB) is taking a pioneering step to revolutionise Malaysia’s housing sector by embracing cutting-edge technologies. In collaboration with MCC Overseas (M) Sdn Bhd (MCC) and Guangdong Bright Dream Robotics Co Ltd (GBDR), SSBB is entering the realm of Robotics Integrated Building Systems (IBS) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), marking a momentous milestone for the Company.
Demonstrating its commitment to transformative progress, SSBB has actively participated in the launch of the National BIM e-Submission (NBES) initiative, spearheaded by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), Malaysia. The primary objective of this initiative is to accelerate the adoption of Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology in the country and streamline the review and approval process of building plans by local authorities.
The Ministry of Works Deputy Minister, Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Haji Mohamad, officially launched the NBES initiative during the opening ceremony of KL BIM Day 2023 at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, July 13. KL BIM Day is a two-day event aimed at promoting the usage of BIM in the construction industry.
Mr. Gan Yee Hin, the Executive Director, and Chief Executive Officer of SSBB, wholeheartedly expressed the Company’s unwavering commitment to accelerating BIM adoption. He emphasised how this effort would significantly enhance the construction landscape in Malaysia, promoting improved safety, efficiency, quality, energy conservation, and emission reduction. Furthermore, Mr. Gan highlighted that NBES would greatly facilitate business operations in Malaysia’s construction industry.
“SSBB firmly believes that fostering cooperation, exploring intelligent construction with construction robots, and embracing high-tech applications in the construction industry will lead to enhanced safety, efficiency, quality, energy conservation, and emission reduction.”
Immediately before SSBB’s active involvement in the launch of NBES, Mr. Gan Yee Hin participated in a delegation led by Datuk Ir. Ahmad Asri Abdul Hamid, Chairperson of CIDB, on a visit to Bozhilin Robotics in Guangdong, China. The delegation also included representatives from MCC Malaysia, Malaysia Jubao Construction Group, and Relotus Sdn Bhd. During the visit, they witnessed remarkable advancements in construction robots and conducted comprehensive research on cutting-edge technologies, including BIM technology and other intelligent construction methods.
“The visit to Bozhilin Robotics provided a tremendous opportunity for SSBB and other stakeholders in Malaysia’s construction industry to network and collaborate for continued innovation. The knowledge shared, and the networks formed will be instrumental in elevating our workmanship quality, ensuring outstanding results. This initiative underscores SSBB’s unwavering commitment to environmental principles, significantly contributing to a sustainable future for our nation and benefiting present and future generations,” affirmed Mr. Gan.
In June 2023, SSBB signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with MCC and GBDR to expedite the integration of automation and robotics into the design, manufacturing, and construction processes of Industrialised Building Systems (IBS) in Malaysia. This strategic alliance reaffirms SSBB’s dedication to leading and accelerating BIM technology adoption in Malaysia, paving the way for a more advanced and efficient construction industry.
