The Election Commission of Malaysia (EC) announced today that the postal voting application for inside and outside the country for the 15th General Election (GE15) is now open immediately, while the closing date will be announced after the commission decides on the polling dates.
EC Secretary Dato’ Indera Ikmalrudin Ishak, in a statement, said that postal voting applications by those classified under Category 1A, which includes Election Officers, officers/ members of the EC, police officers, military personnel and media officers, must be manually submitted using Form 1A that is available on the EC’s official website and posted to the Electoral Division Officer’s address stated on the website.

“Meanwhile, for those classified under Category 1B (Malaysian citizens who are currently outside the country) and Category 1C (agencies/ organisations), applications must be submitted online through the MySPR portal,” he added.
Ikmalrudin also said, “The EC will hold a special meeting to discuss and determine the important dates for the 15th General Election (GE15) which will also take into account the Bugaya state assembly by-election in Sabah to be held on a date that will be informed later.”
In a special address earlier today, Prime Minister of Malaysia Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the dissolution of the Parliament effective immediately, paving the way for GE15 within a maximum of 60 days.
