There are already 44 fully equipped laboratories in Cape Verde for the implementation of the WebLabs project. Makeblock, recognized as a STEAM education solutions provider with distinctive R & D and innovation capabilities, is designated as the exclusive provider of robot kits by the Cape Verde government. Makeblock has provided nearly 1000 advanced STEAM education robot kits for the Weblabs project, which includes mBot v1.1 Bluetooth, mBot Ranger 3, mBot Ultimate, and a large number of electronic modules. Furthermore, Makeblock also provided hands-on robotics training to technicians from the Ministry of Education and NOSI to help them teach STEAM to students.
Jasen Wang, the founder & CEO of Makeblock said: “We are beyond excited to work with NOSI to help close the education gap in Africa. As a global leading company in STEAM education industry, Makeblock always shoulders the social responsibility to serve the whole of society. Makeblock, on this grand mission ‘to take education to the next level all over the world‘ since day one, has been working actively with global partners to make the STEAM education accessible worldwide. Makeblock believes that with advanced STEAM education solutions, we can help children turn their ideas into reality and make creativity a way of their life.”
Earlier on February 6, 2018, 50 high school students came from Xiong’an New Area, China, attended the “TencentXiong’an Winter Camp” and came to visit Makeblock. Over the courses and the robot competition, students got the opportunities to get in touch with robot kits and learned more about the STEAM.
In the United States, Makeblock donated robot kits in a public auction conducted by The Buoniconti Fund, and all proceeds from the robots have gone to backing the research of Curing Paralysis. In Guatemala, Makeblock cooperated with the local partners to organize the 2017 welfare project, which brought STEAM education materials and robot kits to underprivileged children who lived in remote mountain areas or are physically handicapped.
Ultimately, Makeblock is fully committed to providing more education opportunities to people in underserved communities. “Through integrating technologies like AI, IoT with education in the format of education products like Makeblock Neuron, Codey Rocky, and free programming software like mBlock,” Jasen says. “Makeblock aims at bridging that technology divide and create more opportunities for more children.”
