JAKARTA, Indonesia, Oct. 30, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — Actively disengaged employees can cost a company quite a hefty amount each year. American analytics firm Gallup points out that disengaged employees have 37% higher absenteeism, 18% lower productivity and 15% lower profitability. Translating that into dollars, a company would be looking at a loss of 34% of a disengaged employee’s annual salary. Despite acknowledging this fact, many companies fail to implement the right strategy to tackle this issue, according to a world-renowned business coaching company, ActionCOACH.
ActionCOACH surveyed over 10 big corporations in Indonesia and found that only one of them implemented effective employee engagement strategies while over 90% companies simply hold team outings. However, the business coaching expert said the latter has proven to have a short-term impact of employee engagement.
“To engage employees, you need to a mixture of communications training, team building, self-confidence and performance, and focus group discussion to boost leadership skills. However, most team outing activities only focus on entertaining outdoor activities without leadership or team development. An effective employee engagement program should be customized to suit different clients and different employees who play various roles in the company,” said Prijono Nugroho, Managing Partner of ActionCOACH Jakarta.
ActionCOACH offers a customized 12-week action-based program, called the Group Activation System. The program consists of three main areas:
- Engagement: Enriching employees with open and direct communication skills, seeking their feedback and allowing them to shape visions and goals in efforts to find true passions in every employee’s roles.
- Culture: Reflecting environments, behaviors, and values to help an organization lead a new success, for instance by setting clear business goals, defining employees’ roles and encouraging employees to continuously reinvent themselves.
- Leadership: Providing leadership skills, including initiatives to innovation, execute effective business roadmap, and problem-solving competencies to transform actively disengaged employee into fully engaged leaders.
“Everything we do during the sessions will enhance employee’s skill sets and encourage them to strive for better performance. It will also help them learn how to become successful leaders. Our 12-week program is not a one-time learning experience. We will continue monitoring our clients and their employees constantly after the program ends, to ensure that they follow our advice and the things that they’ve learned throughout the programe,” Prijono concluded.
So far, ActionCOACH Jakarta’s Group Activation System has helped more than 30 companies improve their employee engagement strategies. These companies include The Dharmawangsa Hotel Jakarta, DBS Bank, Colliers International, and Diamond Cold Storage.
