Minister of Transport Datuk Wee Ka Siong, stated that on September 24, 2021, the Sarawak State Government through the State Disaster Management Committee, agreed to allow an increase in flight frequency for any route between Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak from 22 to 87 flights per week.
Simultaneously, airlines are permitted to offer flights with an unlimited passenger capacity. This increase in frequency and relaxation of capacity has taken effect from 8 October.
Furthermore, on October 25, the Sarawak State Government agreed to allow an increase in frequency from 89 to 223 flights per week. With this effort, the government believes that airlines will have more leniency in lowering ticket prices.
