Malaysian Parliament: National Eco-Tourism Plan 2.0

    Mas Gading MP Mordi Bimol asked the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture to state in the effort to rebuild the economy in the post-COVID19 era, what are the Ministry’s KPIs, strategies and measures taken to stimulate the growth of the  sector, especially in Sarawak which has superior destinations such as Mulu National Park, Tanjung Datu National Park, Gunung Gading National Park and Kubah National Park. What is the total allocation planned for the development of this sector in Sarawak under the 12MP.

    The Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said that the MOTAC’s National Eco-Tourism Plan (NEP) (2.0) for 2020-2030 includes strategies and action plans to ensure the sustainability of eco-tourism products remains sustainable.

    For the state of Sarawak in particular, MOTAC has identified nine eco-tourism clusters that have the potential to be developed. All these clusters include the involvement of 676 homestay operators under the Malaysia Homestay Experience program, involving 50 villages generated more than RM1.2 million last year.
