MALAYSIA: Melaka welcomes Jaya Grocer’s first stand-alone outlet, features Peranakan-inspired interior

    Jaya Grocer, a leading mass-premium supermarket chain in Malaysia, has selected Melaka for its first stand-alone outlet. Located in Tarcor Park, Klebang, the outlet is the fifty-first addition to the company’s expanding network and marks a significant milestone in Jaya Grocer’s ambitious expansion plans for 2024.

    The outlet, which pays homage to Melaka’s rich cultural heritage with its distinctive Peranakan-inspired interior design, was officially opened by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Utama Abdul Rauf bin Yusoh in a ceremony that coincided with Malaysia’s National Day celebrations on 31 August.

    Abdul Rauf said, “I am pleased to welcome Jaya Grocer to Melaka. This addition not only enhances our retail landscape but also aligns with our commitment to boosting the local economy.     Infused with Peranakan motifs and also Baba Nyonya house architecture, the Jaya Grocer outlet pays homage to Melaka’s rich cultural heritage with its distinctive Peranakan-inspired interior design.

    Adelene Foo, chief executive officer of Jaya Grocer, expressed her delight in inaugurating its first stand-alone store in Melaka, a state steeped in rich history.

    She said, “At Jaya Grocer, our mission is to provide a diverse variety of high-quality and fresh produce at best value prices, ensuring our customers have the best shopping experiences. This new outlet is a testament to that mission. Our team has seamlessly incorporated Peranakan design elements into the store, creating a unique shopping destination that also celebrates the cultural heritage of Melaka.”

    To celebrate the opening, Jaya Grocer is offering special promotions within the coming month, providing Malaccans with attractive deals on a wide range of products. Exclusive edition grocery bags and cooler bags will be available only at the Melaka outlet including a limited edition gula melaka chocolate specially crafted for the store, paying homage to Melaka’s rich cultural heritage.

    The new Melaka store brings Jaya Grocer’s total number of outlets to 51, highlighting the chain’s rapid expansion and growing popularity across Malaysia.
