Immerse yourself in the amazing sights and sounds of Hong Kong when A Taste of Hong Kong (ATHK) returns for an exciting fourth season this 14 August 2017!
ATHK takes you on a series of sensational adventures to explore Asia’s World City. Hong Kong award-winning actress, rockstar and A Taste of Hong Kong host Josie Ho Chiu-yi navigates the busy streets and districts of Hong Kong with a cast including Malaysia’s very own upcoming Youtube singer and lifestyle blogger, Daphne Charice.
Daphne was invited by Josie to spend a day to tour the city like a local, alongside popular bloggers and influencers from around the region: Kryz Uy from the Philippines, Napian “Na” Permsombat from Thailand, Marischka Prudence from Indonesia and Sam Willows from Singapore. Josie took her guests on a special 24-hour trip in Hong Kong where she allowed them an insider’s taste of her life, from visiting her favourite foodie hunts and iconic buildings to checking out Instagram-worthy locations and finding unique OOTDs (Outfit of the Day).
A collaboration between Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) and Travel and Living Channel (TLC), the three-part travel series focuses on three very different yet distinctively Hong Kong experiences: Old Town Central, City Escape, and Hong Kong After Dark. Viewers will see Josie and her guests visiting local designers, dining at traditional cha chaan tengs (coffee shops) in Central, discovering Hong Kong’s lesser-known great natural beauty located just beyond the city limits, enjoying the nightlife as they chill and listen to live music and hanging out with Jozie’s bandmates.
Josie shared how she never gets bored of showing people around Hong Kong, as it gives her a chance to see the her city through different eyes each time. “It’s always a different experience every time I bring new friends around Hong Kong because of their different characters and interests. I love being able to show them my favourite places to hang out, and enjoy the different conversations that we have, and bonding while we tour the city together.”
“I really want them to feel as if they are Hong Kongers too, and give them the opportunity to step away from the well-beaten tourist paths. Before the trip, we literally did not know each other. But the experiences and conversations we had over food, fashion, and more food brought us together in a way that was uniquely Hong Kong,” she added.
Speaking about her excitement on being a part of ATHK, Daphne expressed how she was amazed by Hong Kong’s rich diversity and being able to participate in activities that resonated with her individual style and personality.
“Every place we went to tells a different story, every district has its own special identity. From fusion food, to the local hipster hang outs and the East meets West vibes; Hong Kong is so cosmopolitan, global and modern but still never far from its traditions and Chinese roots,” said Daphne, expressing how the day’s discoveries were more than a sightseeing tour.
The girls also had a chance to do a photoshoot with Josie herself, wearing a fusion of traditional Chinese dresses and accessories by renowned local designer, Cecilia Ma.
“Josie noticed that Kryz and I were such selfie queens and decided to see how we would perform in a proper photo shoot situation. We were sent off to look for shops all over the Old Town Central to get accessories and traditional Chinese Qi Pao before heading to the trendy 65 Peel café to be photographed. To be able to do a photoshoot with a rockstar makes me feel like a superstar too,” Daphne gushed.
Join Josie and Daphne as they make their way through Asia’s World City’s best keep secrets when A Taste of Hong Kong 4 premieres on 14 August 2017 at 9:55pm. Following episodes will air on 21 and 28 August at the same time.
