AirAsia to launch direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Darwin from 27 June 2025

    AirAsia Malaysia has announced the launch of a new direct route connecting Kuala Lumpur to Darwin, with services set to commence on 27 June 2025. The new route, operating four times weekly, will strengthen connectivity between Malaysia and Australia’s Northern Territory.

    The flights will be serviced by AirAsia’s Airbus A320neo aircraft, providing nearly 100,000 seats annually between the two cities. Scheduled to operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, the service marks a significant milestone in AirAsia’s expansion in Australia.

    Datuk Captain Fareh Mazputra, chief executive officer of AirAsia Malaysia, expressed enthusiasm about the airline’s latest route, stating, “We are thrilled to launch our very first flight to Darwin, creating greater opportunities for both leisure and business travellers to explore one of Australia’s most vibrant and unique destinations.”

    Robyn Cahill OAM, Australian Minister for Trade, Business, and Asian Relations, welcomed the announcement, highlighting the route’s potential benefits. She said, “This will not only improve air accessibility and affordability for Territorians but will also make it easier to invest, visit, and do business in the Territory.”

    The introduction of the Kuala Lumpur-Darwin service is expected to boost tourism, trade, and cultural exchanges between Malaysia and Australia. Darwin will become AirAsia’s fifth destination in Australia, further strengthening the airline’s footprint in the region.

    To celebrate the launch, AirAsia is offering promotional all-in one-way fares starting from RM299 (AUD106.78) for bookings made before 30 March 2025. The travel period for these promotional fares runs from 27 June to 25 October 2025.
