Speak to Eyra Rahman, Director of Sang Pewaris – A Malaysian Adaptation of the Korean Drama ‘The Heirs’ Set To Take the Local Entertainment Industry by Storm

    2020 has been a wild ride with the COVID-19 pandemic, truly bringing out the homebodies in all of us as we stay safe at home and binge on films and television series. To wrap up the year, make room for one more series to watch from anywhere, anytime – none other than Sang Pewaris! An adaptation of the novel by Fizziany and Korean drama ‘The Heirs’, the series starts airing from the 26th of November on WeTV, just one hour after its slot on TV3s Slot Lestari. Sang Pewaris follows the story of Megat Amer and Zara Aireena in an aspirational rags to riches plot.

    Starring Ben Amir, who plays as Megat Amer in Sang Pewaris with over 9 years of experience under his belt and has appeared in Suri Hati Mr Pilot as Dr. Muslim, Chandelier as Kaef, as well as Semusim Rindu as Ihkman. Aside from that, Sang Pewaris also stars Amyra Rosli, an award winning actress with 9 years of acting experience as well who started off her acting journey in Jodoh in 2011. She has also acted in Nur and Dhia Sofea as the main characters of the shows, as well as playing the role of Intan Asnidar in Cik Bunga Encik Sombong.

    Sang Pewaris is produced and directed by the infamous Eyra Rahman from who started her career as an assistant director in Intan Asmara back in 2008. Since 2012, she has directed an impressive fleet of movies and drama series. Some of her works include Bercinta (2013), Sejuta Rasa Buat Adelia (2018) and M4M4 (2020), among others.

    Directing this drama was an interesting experience considering that it is an adaptation of the famous Korean drama and I am proud to have been given the opportunity to work on this project alongside so many talented cast and crew members. We are all very excited to have it available for everyone to watch anytime and anywhere on the WeTV platform as well – truly creating a breakthrough in the local entertainment industry,” says Eyra.

    The drama was filmed by Global Station Sdn. Bhd, a pivotal homegrown production house that specialises in production and distribution of both fictional and non-fictional television series. Founded in 2000 by Zaitun Mohd Jiwa, Global Station Sdn. Bhd is known nationwide as a well-rounded production house that has filmed notable titles in the industry such as Memori Cinta Suraya (2015), Abang Bomba I Love You (2016) and Cemburu Seorang Perempuan (2019).
