- It currently hosts over 100 homegrown brands with more than 1,000 high-quality handmade products
- It aims to foster a community across Southeast Asia that loves and appreciates emerging brands, beautifully crafted products, and the wonderful innovative creators behind them
Based on the press release issued by Poptron, a lifestyle social commerce platform with the aim of creating a community of artisans welcomes the keynote address by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at the First ASEAN Digital Minister’s Meeting with much delight. The Prime Minister of Malaysia addressed the distinguished audience with a theme of ASEAN: A Digitally Connected Community. Most important of all, what struck a node with the creative community is the Prime Minister’s call to kickstart an online platform to connect small and medium-sized businesses and artisans across the region, selling original goods directly to consumers, thus, easing transactions.
Poptron’s founder, Brian Johnson Lowe said, “Look no further, this is exactly what Poptron is about. Launched in September 2020, the lifestyle social commerce platform is ahead of the game and has so far hosted over 100 homegrown brands with more than 1000 products from small and medium sized businesses and artisans, and is on a mission to connect more brands across Southeast Asia. Poptron is working on fostering a regional community that loves and appreciates emerging brands, beautiful crafted products, and the passionate creators behind them. What’s most exciting is that we have kicked off this journey in Malaysia first!”
Shopping for unique artisanal gifts for your loved ones is now easier than ever with Poptron, a lifestyle social commerce platform which aims to bring the magic and excitement of traversing rows of stalls at the local art bazaars to your fingertips.
Before the pandemic, pop-up bazaars used to be the weekend highlight for many, frequented by people from all walks of life, looking for high-quality local products offered from the many local micro and emerging brands. The Movement Control Order (MCO) however has put this fun weekend activity to a halt.
Brian explained, “Our local pop-up bazaars used to be my way of discovering and supporting all these interesting, high-quality products from small brands and businesses.”
“These microbrands often already have their own followings but finding them online can be difficult unless they were suggested to us by the discovery algorithm, or if we already know the brand name. With Poptron, all these microbrands are located in one place making it easy for lovers of high quality, lifestyle products to discover and explore these beloved brands,” he added.
Poptron’s platform features a simple, intuitive layout for easier browsing and shopping experience
Poptron – The Embodiment of Pop-up Stores, Trust and Online Presence
Poptron – a portmanteau of the words POP-ups, TRust and ONline – was launched in September 2020 featuring a curated list of local microbrands, all of which were carefully selected by the Poptron team. Poptron welcomes brands that share the same ethical, responsible and socially conscious aspirations as them, in line with their mission to create a like-minded community in the lifestyle, arts and crafts space.
“You might not see brands that you’re familiar with on Poptron but rest assured that every single product has been carefully curated before they can be listed. So, whatever it is that you choose to get, you can have the peace of mind knowing that they are of the highest quality!” said Brian. “This is the best time to support local brands, especially as a lot of them were impacted by the pandemic. Moreover, the people behind these brands put their heart and soul into their creations and we’d love to support them,” he added.
The platform recently received funding of USD1 million and will be expanding their operations globally, beginning with Singapore, Philippines and Indonesia this year, apart from recently enhancing the customer experience on their website. The platform now provides a clean, intuitive interface showcasing Popular & Latest Products, Editor’s Picks and On Sale, featured stores for easy product search and discovery along with fetching product images. For onboarded brands, free essential e-commerce tools are also provided to self-manage products, inventory, orders and fulfilment.
Poptron invites creative businesses and artisans that share the same ethical, responsible and socially conscious aspirations as them, in line with their mission to create a like-minded community in the lifestyle, arts and crafts space. Some of the brands include Baba Baa, CindertoElla, Kapas Living, Kulihart, Mandi, SAHARA by Psamathe, Sundari Gifts, The Honey Hearts, The Two Pineapples, The Watertree Project and more.
