COVID-19 has casted significant negative impact on Hong Kong’s economy. In view of the challenges faced by businesses, the HKSAR Government has launched two rounds of relief measures. The Hong Kong-based Universe Business Consulting Limited (“UBC”) announced that it will provide free corporate consulting services for a month to help SME business owners to seize the opportunities of Government relief funding to turn crises into opportunities, and prepare for sustainable future business when economy recovers.
In addition to providing employment subsidies, the Government strived to further relieve the cash flow pressure of SMEs with its “100% Guaranteed Preferential Loan” under the SME Financing Guarantee Scheme. UBC provides a month-long free business consulting service, to help companies to review their own situations and provide professional advice on deciding how to use Government-provided subsidies and loan guarantees from a more objective and comprehensive perspective.
However, the short-term Government relief whilst helpful, will not solve the problem adequately. Mr Albert Law, Managing Director of UBC, said, “The Government provides subsidies or loan guarantees to enterprises, but it is only a short-term breathing space. This pandemic has already changed the consumption ecosystem. Rushing to apply for subsidies without a plan to adjust and reposition businesses to answer that change will only postpone the difficulties faced today by several months.”
Albert emphasized, “At present, what companies really need is to review their business situations, actively plan for sustainable development, and then cooperate with existing resources to implement the plan in a timely manner. UBC offers to advise Hong Kong companies at this critical time and build a win-win situation together.”
