After successfully catering to the needs of its Muslim consumers with JAKIM Halal Certification for its water purifiers, Coway has achieved yet another life-changing milestone as the company’s PRIME II series bedframe and mattress are proud to be the first products to obtain FRIM Green Certification under the mattress and bedframe category.
FRIM plays a crucial role in product certification for forest resources and products as it strives to ensure products certified by them are sustainable and meet the required local as well as international standards. As for the FRIM Green Certification, it supports sustainable forest management practices in Malaysia and encourages the use of raw materials that are sourced and produced in an environmentally responsible as well as socially beneficial manner.
With the certification, Coway customers can now truly sleep in peace knowing that the PRIME II series bedframe and mattress that they are sleeping on is a product of high quality, safe, environmental-friendly and meets international standards.
With Coway being a huge advocate for sustainability and green efforts, getting the PRIME II series bedframe and mattress certified by FRIM through the Green Certification Scheme is a further testament of Coway’s commitment and dedication to its core values and customers. It also ensures its mattress is top-notch and meets all requirements from safety, strength, durability, stability and VOC emission tests.
“Getting the certification has been one of our milestone goals and part of our commitment to our customers. We are grateful to receive the certification and glad to have taken this initiative to be the first in the industry to apply for FRIM Green Certification, and we are now the first company here to obtain this valuable certification,” said Kyle Choi, Managing Director of Coway Malaysia.
He added that the certification is renewed annually and the renewal is subject to the surveillance audit conducted yearly. In the third year, there will be a full reassessment and complete type test for the product carried out by FRIM again before the renewal can be made.
“We are glad that this certification process is taken seriously by FRIM because it shows that not just any product can be certified, only the best ones can pass the thorough process. This also helps keep us in check and pushes us to constantly improve and upgrade our bedframe and mattress to ensure our certification will be renewed annually by FRIM,” added Choi who shared that Coway always prioritises in delivering only the best quality products and meeting all safety requirements as this is a way of building customer’s trust.
In order to receive the certification, Coway had to undergo a documentation audit for the product to ensure all information was accurate before the company underwent an official audit. Next, the entire production cycle of the PRIME II series bedframe and mattress was evaluated in a factory audit where an auditor reviewed Coway’s operational procedures including quality control plans, material inspections and equipment checks.
“FRIM product certification ensures the production process is being controlled and the quality of the product meets the industry standard. Through this, we hope the quality of every product can be monitored and improved productively through strict verifications and audits delivered by FRIM. Having said that, we are confident that Coway has met all the requirements and standards for the PRIME II series bedframe and mattress to be certified right from safety to health aspects. We are pleased to have Coway as the first company to obtain FRIM Green Certification under the mattress and bedframe category,” said Dr Ismail Parlan, Director General (DG) of FRIM.
Aside from this, Coway Malaysia was also assessed on how it handles non-conformances and customer complaints. Finally, the products were tested at the FRIM Furniture Testing Laboratory (FTL) before getting the stamp of approval. The certification emphasise on aspects such as safety, stability, endurance, strength and the material used. The products also have been tested for emission of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) and successfully meet the requirements.
Coway’s PRIME II series bedframe and mattress comes in both Queen and King-sized mattresses with a slim and sleek dark blue velvet headboard and frame for a classier look, customers could also opt for the dark grey PU leather bedframe design to match with their interior design. It is built with a cooling and ventilated foam complete with precise back support (5-zone latex and 7-zone pocket spring), made to adapt to an individual’s body curve and posture.
The mattress also comes with a free changeable mattress topper and is part of Coway’s routine Mattress Care Service that is performed by its very own professional Homecare Technicians once every four months, using the latest hi-tech equipment to clean and care for the mattress. It is cleaned following a 7-Step Mattress Care Service that includes dust level measuring, frame cleaning, frame wiping or leather polishing, side edge cleaning, mattress cleaning, dust mite repellent and UV sterilisation.
