Kuala Selangor MP Datuk Dzulkefly Ahmad asked the Minister of Human Resources to state whether the Government intends to impose a minimum wage on the business platforms of gig economy.

According to Deputy Minister of Human Resources Datuk Awang Hashim, the Act 265 states that gig workers are not included in the defined category of workers in Malaysia.
Furthermore, it is stated that Malaysia has no prior records that can be used as a baseline to allow those working under no contract to enjoy the same privileges and minimum wage scheme as defined contract employees under the Malaysian labor law.
