GoBarakah, a fintech platform dedicated to transforming the landscape of social assistance, has earned significant recognition in 2024 by securing three prestigious awards, underscoring its role in advancing financial inclusion and social impact through cutting-edge technology.
Launched in November 2023 by YB Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Binti Shukri, Malaysia’s Minister of Women, Family, and Community Development, GoBarakah has been reshaping how social assistance is distributed.
Its innovative use of e-vouchers has introduced greater transparency, traceability, and efficiency in managing various donations, including public donations, corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds, and wakalah (Islamic charitable funds).
By leveraging technology, GoBarakah connects corporate funders, verified donors, organisations, and beneficiaries into a streamlined ecosystem, addressing inefficiencies often present in traditional giving methods.
In September 2024, GoBarakah made headlines on the international stage by winning the FIKRAtech London 2024 award for ‘Expanding Financial Inclusion through Digital Technology.’
This prestigious award was part of a global fintech pitching competition organised by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and supported by the Malaysia Securities Commission. The platform was lauded for its innovative e-voucher system, which provides a transparent solution to track and distribute social assistance.
In October 2024, GoBarakah further cemented its reputation by winning Malaysia’s national competition for the World Summit Awards (WSA) 2024 in the ‘Business and Commerce’ category. The competition, organised by Proficeo and hosted by PayNet, attracted 153 nominations, with GoBarakah standing out among 17 finalists.
The GoBarakah platform was recognised for its contribution to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in addressing poverty alleviation, social justice, and financial inclusion. GoBarakah will now represent Malaysia in the global WSA round, set to take place in Hyderabad in April 2025.
On the same day, GoBarakah also claimed victory at FIKRAace 2024, a fintech accelerator programme spearheaded by the Malaysia Securities Commission in collaboration with MDEC and Nexea Ventures. The programme focuses on enhancing the Islamic capital market ecosystem.
GoBarakah was awarded an RM50,000 cash prize for its Shariah-compliant e-voucher platform, which promotes transparency, accountability, and collaboration in line with Maqasid Al-Shariah—principles aimed at fostering social inclusion and justice. The platform’s ability to ensure that financial assistance reaches the intended beneficiaries while preventing misuse was pivotal in securing the win.
“These awards – both local and international – validate our efforts to create a trusted, transparent, and tech-driven collaborative space for social assistance,” said Firdaus Mohamed, CEO and co-founder of GoBarakah. “We’re especially grateful to our early corporate clients who entrusted us with their CSR funds, allowing us to demonstrate the power of our platform.”
GoBarakah’s recent accolades mark a crucial milestone in its journey to revolutionise social assistance. As the platform continues to lead the way, it offers a promising solution where donors, organisations, and beneficiaries can work together efficiently and transparently.
GoBarakah is a fintech platform developed by LC Wakaful Digital Sdn Bhd and was launched in November 2023.
