MALAYSIA: GamBit Group and Digital Trustees Berhad unite to democratise wealth planning

In a landmark development, GamBit Group Berhad has announced its strategic alliance with Digital Trustees Berhad, effective from the end of January 2025. This collaboration establishes GamBit as Malaysia’s inaugural licensed entity to seamlessly integrate traditional trust and estate planning services with digital asset custody. The partnership aims to broaden access to financial planning, encompassing both conventional and digital assets, thereby promoting financial literacy and inclusion across the nation.

GamBit Group is a technology-driven consortium of private wealth management companies, encompassing trustee services, digital asset custody, private credit, and equity. The Group bridges traditional and digital finance to offer innovative, accessible solutions that preserve and grow wealth across generations. Their mission is to democratise wealth management, making financial planning, literacy, and inheritance solutions accessible to everyone, not just the wealthy.

As one of only three companies in Malaysia licensed as a Digital Asset Custodian by the Securities Commission Malaysia, GamBit Custody, a subsidiary of GamBit Group, has cemented its leadership in the digital finance ecosystem. By facilitating the tokenisation of Real World Assets (RWA), such as real estate and commodities, GamBit offers a secure and compliant avenue for SMEs and individual investors to diversify their portfolios and engage in the burgeoning digital economy. This initiative aligns with global fintech trends, where digital asset custodians and tokenised assets reshape investment landscapes and create new opportunities for a wider range of investors.

This integration signifies GamBit’s official entry into the business-to-consumer (B2C) market. While many Digital Asset Custodian companies primarily focus on enterprise solutions, this consortium enables the expansion of services into managing RWAs. Notably, the trustee integration allows GamBit to pioneer inheritance planning for individual clients who wish to hold both cash and cryptocurrencies in trust.

“Estate and financial planning shouldn’t be a privilege of the wealthy—it’s a basic right that everyone should have access to,” stated Datuk Clifford Hii, Founder and CEO of GamBit Group. “The COVID-19 pandemic was a powerful reminder of this, as I saw firsthand the challenges loved ones faced without inheritance planning. It underscored the urgent need to make financial security accessible for all Malaysians, not just a select few. Integrating Digital Trustees into the GamBit Group consortium brings us closer to this goal, empowering us to bridge the gap and uphold our commitment to democratising trust services. Our mission is to help every Malaysian secure their financial future in a way that’s inclusive, practical, and accessible.”

By offering trustee services to individuals across diverse income levels and providing targeted financial solutions for SMEs, GamBit seeks to enhance access to essential financial resources, particularly for small businesses often excluded from traditional funding networks.

Looking ahead, GamBit is exploring potential innovations, including Shariah-compliant digital wealth management solutions, to cater to diverse market needs. The Group is also expanding its presence in Sarawak, committing up to RM20 million to support local SMEs and offer trust and digital asset management solutions in underserved regions.

GamBit’s new synergy with Digital Trustees Berhad signifies a step toward an inclusive financial future, focusing on affordability, security, and accessibility for Malaysians. As the digital asset and fintech landscape continues to evolve, GamBit Group remains committed to educating, empowering, and equipping Malaysians with the financial tools necessary for a secure and prosperous future.
