At the Huawei Asia Pacific Partners Conference 2023, Huawei and 10 partners jointly launched the APAC Smart Road, Waterway, and Port Alliance.
The alliance aims to promote partner collaboration across the APAC region and draws on Huawei’s and its partners’ experience and capabilities to jointly build international competitiveness in key infrastructure, creating a solid platform for collaboration on an international scale.
“The Asia-Pacific region is one of the most culturally and economically vibrant regions in the world. The launch of this alliance demonstrates that Huawei’s Smart Road, Waterway, and Port BU and its partners are capable of reaching new levels of cooperation,” said York Yue, CTO of Huawei’s Smart Road, Waterway, and Port BU.

“Roads, waterways, and ports not only make up key infrastructure that powers national development, but also provide critical support for advancing industries, the economy, and supplies,” said Jackie Miao, Director of Transportation, APAC EBG at the session themed ‘Digital Technologies Enable Road, Waterway, and Port Industries’.
Jackie highlighted Huawei’s intelligent transportation solution (ITS) at the session and also introduced Huawei’s security management solution based on AI-powered front-end sensing, which can identify 18 kinds of traffic violations in four categories. The vehicle management solution based on the big data analysis platform and storage of massive amounts of data supports vehicle big data analysis and congestion warning. The traffic control solution using all-optical road network sensing can detect traffic flow in real-time, control signals, monitor traffic operational indicators, and release traffic guidance information to alleviate urban traffic congestion.
“As we progress towards the future of smart roads, we need to leverage on the wider ecosystem of partners. We learn from each other, access new markets and strengthen our credibility. Our focus is always to provide the best experience for the end users,” said Anwar Ishak.
“Huawei will always adhere to the principle of ‘openness, cooperation, and shared success’. We hope to work closely with our partners on consulting, planning, design, investment and financing, construction, operations, and digital talent cultivation,” York Yue added.
