The convocation was graced with over 900 guests, including the graduates, their families, the MMMC faculty and staff, to mark the journey of a medical college that continues to produce leaders in the field of medicine for Malaysia.
Prof. Dr. Jaspal Singh, the Chief Executive of MMMC, in his commencement speech stated, “As you stand tall before your teachers and parents, basking in glory, you must not take for granted the very people who most deserve your gratitude and appreciation. Your parents made the sacrifices, watching over your needs and desires, smiling at your winnings, crying at your failings, but trusting you will come through as indeed you have. You have made them glow with pride.
“Having obtained the degrees – MBBS or BDS – with the most sought-after label that brands you – a Manipal Graduate – you should continue to acquire knowledge. The astute mind has always something to learn. Continue the passion and diligence shown over these past 5 years, not to forget the 12 before!” concluded Dr. Jaspal Singh, who was formally the Dean of Medicine at MMMC.
Dr. H. S. Ballal, the Pro-Chancellor of MAHE, addressed the graduates and said, “Manipal Academy of Higher Education is one of the three private universities that have been granted the status of Institute of Eminence by the Government of India. Out of six Institutes of Eminence, three are in the public sector and the remaining in the private sector, and it is indeed an honour that Manipal Academy of Higher Education is included in this prestigious list.
MMMC is one of Malaysia’s leading medical college and as of today, there are more than 9,000 doctors practicing in Malaysia are the alumni of Manipal.
