Dow Accelerates Regional Packaging Innovation and Solutions with the Launch of Pack Studios Mumbai

-India-based innovation center helps foster collaboration and the development of advanced packaging solutions

Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics (P&SP), a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company, has opened its Pack Studios Mumbai innovation center. Marking the Company’s eighth Pack Studios location — and the third in Asia Pacific — Dow P&SP’s global network of studios brings together technical experts, laboratories and testing capabilities to foster innovation and collaboration, and accelerate the development of new packaging products.

Asia Pacific is one of the largest materials suppliers to the global packaging industry. Combined with a rapidly growing population and economy, India is an ideal location to advance packaging technologies to meet emerging market needs,” said Bambang CandraAsia Pacific commercial vice president of Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics. “Pack Studios Mumbai reinforces Dow’s commitment to our customers in South Asia, and provides a unique opportunity for converters, brand owners and retailers to enhance their competitive edge.”

Pack Studios are built on Dow’s long-held belief that innovation can be best achieved through collaboration. Pack Studios not only create an environment for industry collaboration, but also create a strong global network of experts and capabilities that are dedicated to the success of partners throughout the value chain regardless of their location. Pack Studios Mumbai brings this pioneering approach to the India market with the support of seven other locations around the world, and expands the ability to design packaging solutions that meet local challenges at a quicker rate.

The Pack Studios Mumbai facility is equipped with a collaboration room to inspire solution-based thinking and leading laboratories with film testing equipment to conceptualize and validate next-generation packaging. An industrial-scale Nordmeccanica Super Combi 3000 solvent-based and solventless laminator onsite allows customers to test, prototype and develop adhesives products without interrupting their own commercial production.

As a one-stop center to inspire packaging innovation across the value chain, Pack Studios house a global network of scientists, state-of-the-art equipment and a broad range of testing capabilities. Here, Dow resins and adhesives experts collaborate with equipment manufacturers, designers, brand owners and prototyping specialists — resulting in faster commercialization of new and improved packaging solutions.

Pack Studios Mumbai joins Dow’s seven global Pack Studios locations, including Freeport, Texas (USA); Ringwood, Illinois (USA); Sao Paulo, Brazil; Horgen, Switzerland; Mozzate, ItalyShanghai, China, and Singapore. By providing regional innovation centers around the world with equipment tailored for local packaging needs, Pack Studios allows customers to meet their specific requirements, bridge product performance gaps, and help bring products to market faster.
