Distinctively designed to depict the uniqueness and originality of East Malaysian culture, these 1.5L bottles will display elements such as the traditional headgear of Sabah and Sarawak, traditional musical instruments, and tribal patterns from both regions complete with vibrant colours that signify the Harvest Festival celebration. As the first cola brand to participate in the celebration of rice harvesting, the label designs will be available on both Pepsi Regular and Pepsi Black exclusively in all major supermarkets in Sabah and Sarawak for a limited time during the festive period.
Amy Gan, Vice President of Marketing of Etika Sdn Bhd shared that Pepsi is a brand that not only excels in innovation but also places great priority on diversity, and they are pleased for the opportunity to work with two local talents to produce a captivating packaging design for East Malaysian consumers to enjoy this unique season.
“We are proud to participate in this year’s festival that honors and champions the tales and history of East Malaysian cultures and heritage, and uplift local artists to embrace and do more to showcase their talents,” said Amy.
“Pepsi is devoted to enhancing the national understanding and appreciation of diversity and inclusivity. We found ourselves captivated and inspired when we encountered the distinctively cultural murals work of Daphne Siaw, a self-trained artist from Sarawak, and Charles Mawan, an independent artist from Sabah. As such, we are thrilled to join forces with Daphne and Charles, to broadcast their unique insights into East Malaysian culture through their creative expressions.”
In addition to the limited-edition label designs, Pepsi will be the main sponsor of a fun-filled cultural event in East Malaysia. As the official beverage sponsor of Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association (KDCA) 2023, Pepsi will support Pesta Kaamatan and will also sponsor one of the biggest beauty pageants in Sabah, the Unduk Ngadau competition, to encourage and motivate the younger generation in continuing the long-lasting tradition.
