Netflix’s hit series ‘Bridgerton’ inspires Malaysian fashion scene

Netflix’s cultural phenomenon “Bridgerton” isn’t just sweeping through screens worldwide; it’s also leaving an impression in the world of fashion.

Set in the Regency era, the show has sparked interest in historical fashion and fabrics. The series highlights beautiful fabrics of the era; intricate designs, elaborate silhouettes, embroidery, pastel colours and royal tones.

Inspired by the series, Malaysia’s premier distributor of high fashion fabrics since the 1940s, Binwani’s Fashion Group, partnered with Liberty Fabrics to bring a touch of “Bridgerton to Malaysian shores.

Four years ago, Liberty Fabrics selected Binwani’s as their exclusive retail distributor in Malaysia. This summer, Liberty launched its new collection of the iconic patented Tana Lawn Fabric and again sought after Binwani’s as the exclusive store to distribute this collection.

The collection captures the essence of English gardens with intricate floral motifs with colours of blues and greens and soft pastel flowers. Whether crafting sundresses or traditional Baju Kurung, these fabrics capture the romance and elegance of the Regency period.

“The response so far has been great as it usually is with limited edition fashion products,” said Vijay Binwani, managing director of Binwani’s Fashion Group. Binwani’s prepares to celebrate its centenary in 2025, celebrating 100 years of supplying Malaysia with exclusive fabrics.

Binwani is not new to showcasing exclusive limited-edition fabrics. In 2011, the lace fabric used for Princess Kate’s gown at the Royal Wedding to Prince William was available in Binwani’s to retail in its stores by French Lace maker Sophie Hallette. The lace fabric was made of ten pieces of limited edition white corded lace, packed with gold embossed boxes and was sold to Malaysian brides.

Binwani’s invites fashion enthusiasts to indulge in Liberty’s new “Bridgerton” inspired print collection, available now exclusively at their outlets in the Bangsar Shopping Centre and Great Eastern Mall in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as well as online at www.binwani.com until the end of summer 2024 or until stocks last.

The “Bridgerton Netlix series has captivated audiences and sparked new fashion trends, while the Liberty fabric collection ensures Malaysians can gracefully embrace this elegant trend.
