As RHB’s Art with Heart 2024 (AwH24) opens its doors for the sixth time, it continues to champion the transformative power of art, with this year’s theme, Seni Setulus Hati, resonating deeply with the spirit of Merdeka (or Independence) as Malaysians await the 64th National Day celebration at the end of the month. The exhibition embodies the love, peace, and mutual respect that define Malaysia’s diverse society.
More than just a traditional art display, AwH24 is an immersive experience that captivates and engages, reflecting the heartfelt dedication of the artists and the innovative spirit driving contemporary art today.

- Mulaika Nordin
A celebrated name in Malaysian contemporary art, Mulaika Nordin captivates with her introspective abstract paintings. Known for her innovative use of various mediums, Mulaika’s work blends diverse materials and concepts, creating thought-provoking pieces that invite deep reflection. As a co-founder of Imbang & Kala, she also champions the revitalisation of reading among youth, making her a key figure in the local art scene.
- Anthony Lee Weng Choong
Grandson of the legendary “Father of Malayan Art,” Yong Mun Sen, Anthony Lee Weng Choong continues his family’s artistic legacy with a focus on landscapes and nature. His dedication to his craft has earned him recognition in prestigious collections and exhibitions both locally and internationally. His work is a serene yet powerful exploration of Malaysia’s natural beauty.
- Azizi Latif
Overcoming the loss of his right palm in a childhood accident, Azizi Latif has mastered new media art, creating striking portraits of artists and historical figures using acrylic, spray paint, and intricate quilling. His work, which pays homage to icons like Yayoi Kusama and Van Gogh, has gained international recognition, with pieces featured in the permanent collection at Citizen M Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
- Aisyah Zainal
A dynamic force in the art world, Aisyah Zainal’s fearless experimentation with various mediums, including burned latex paper, sets her apart. Her deep understanding of composition and innovative approach resonate deeply with audiences, making her a standout at AwH24.
- Zulaiha Zulkapli
An advocate for deaf artists, Zulaiha Zulkapli’s evocative work explores memories and abstract themes, offering viewers a unique glimpse into a silent world filled with deep longing and nostalgia. Her art not only invites contemplation but also challenges perceptions, making her an essential voice in contemporary art.
- Ong Yong Da
Despite limited speech, Ong Yong Da’s cheerful demeanour and exceptional talent have made him a beloved figure in the art community. His work raises awareness for people with special needs, demonstrating the inclusive power of art. Ong’s vibrant pieces, showcased in numerous exhibitions and auctions, are a testament to his enduring spirit.
- Nur Fariza Abu Hassan
Living with mucopolysaccharidosis type IV, Nur Fariza Abu Hassan creates life-like art that has captivated audiences on social media. Her versatile repertoire, combined with a love for music, showcases her resilience and creative spirit, making her work both inspiring and deeply moving.
- Nooy Xin Yen
A graduate of the Malaysian Institute of Art (MIA), Nooy Xin Yen primarily expresses herself through drawing and painting, with a preference for a black-and-white palette. Her exploration of contrasts and depth offers a unique and compelling perspective, making her a must-see at this year’s exhibition.
- Clement Ooi
Clement Ooi’s vibrant, whimsical style has earned him widespread admiration. An autistic artist, Clement’s work evolved from intricate doodles into bold strokes reflecting deep emotion. His art, coupled with his achievements in sports, exemplifies resilience and creativity, offering a fresh and joyful take on contemporary art.
- Eugene Nandakumar
Born in Kuala Lumpur, Eugene Nandakumar is not only an award-winning artist but also an art educator and therapist. His work at Campus Rangers International School, where he leads the Art and Design department, highlights his commitment to nurturing future artists. Eugene’s pieces, often tied to art therapy, demonstrate the healing power of creativity, making his contributions to AwH24 both impactful and insightful.
These ten artists represent the heart and soul of RHB’s Art with Heart 2024, each bringing their unique voice to this year’s theme of love, peace, and mutual respect. Their work not only enriches Malaysia’s art landscape but also resonates with the diverse cultural fabric that defines the nation.
Once again curated by Sarah Abu Bakar, Malaysia’s art writer and fine art consultant, RHB’s AwH24 opens today (27 August) and will run until 1 September 2024 in Bangsar Shopping Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
